Sinds hun debuut EP uit 1982 lag deze band me steeds nauw aan het hart, tot aan Empire ((1991). Daarna ging het snel en steil bergaf. Frisse wind kwam er na de split met hun origenele frontman Geoff Tate en het aantrekken van zijn vervanger Todd La Torre in 2012. Potten breken zat er echter ook dan niet in. Afgaand op de nieuwe single Man The Machine komt daar héél misschien op 1 maart verandering in. The Verdict wordt aan het Belgische publiek voorgesteld tijdens het Alcatraz Festival. Een introductie. Queensrÿche first burst onto the music scene in 1982 with the release of their self-titled 4 song EP “Queensrÿche”. They very quickly gained international recognition and performed to sold out audiences around the world. With the follow up first full length album “The Warning” in 1984, and the ground breaking 1986 release of “Rage For Order”, Queensrÿche continued to prove their worldwide dominance as one of the most respected and creative bands of the 80’s. In 1988 the band turned out yet another monumental album “Operation: Mindcrime”, which would go on to become one of the TOP 10 best selling concepts records of all time, and set the stage for continued sold out performances around the world. With the release of the critically acclaimed and commercially successful “Empire” in 1991, the band earned multiple Grammy Award nominations and won the MTV “viewers choice” award for the #1 chart topping hit “Silent Lucidity”. During the next ten years, the band continued to release albums and tour the world to sold out audiences. Queensrÿche has sold over 30 million albums worldwide and have continued to break new ground and push their creative process. The band have just announced their newest album "The Verdict" out March 1st via Century Media Records. The band’s forthcoming release was produced, mixed and mastered by Zeuss (Rob Zombie, Iced Earth, Hatebreed) at Uberbeatz in Lynwood, WA, Planet-Z in Wilbraham, MA and Watershed Studio in Seattle, WA. It’s something Wheel frontman James Lascelles knows more than most, having relocated over a thousand miles from England to Finland to pursue music as a career. After meetingsomelikeminded musicians in Helsinki– namely bassist Mikko Määttä, drummer Santeri Saksala and guitarist Saku Mattila, eventually replaced by Roni Seppänen – Wheel was born. Now, following on from the overwhelming success of their The Path and The Divide EPs, the quartet will be releasing their debut album Moving Backwards on February 22nd, 2019. This time round, they’re holding their magnifying glass up to censorship and institutionalised mind control – an epidemic that’s sweeping that world, affecting just about every single human on the face of the Earth... “The jumping off point was a podcast I was watching where Sam Harris was talking to Joe Rogan about this imagined future,” explains James, in between dates of their November tour with Finnish progressive folk titans Amorphis. “They covered censorship in academia, which is becoming increasingly common in the States. If it continues, filtering out into films, comedy and music – we’ll end up in a place where nobody can say anything anymore. The lyrics I wrote for Tyrant – with lines like ‘silence will become the banner’ – are heralding what’s to come, though I’m hoping we can nip it in the bud before it gets there. On this album, rather than looking at environmental or economic dystopia, we’re anticipating more of a more social one.” With what could very well be the rock debut of its year under their belts, dates with Swedish art-rockers Soen [featuring ex-Opeth drummer Martin Lopez] and festival appearance keeping them busy throughout summer, 2019 will be a landmark time for the quartet. Dat ze in Scandinavië sterk zijn in Classic Rock weten we ondertussen (Graveyard anyone?). Ook Riot Horse tappen uit dat '70s vaatje met invloeden van Led Zeppelin over Mountain tot de Black Crowes. Op 26 oktober kwam hun album Cold Hearted Woman uit. Een introductie. "In 2006 the danish/swedish heavy band Sons Of Tomorrow deicided to take a long time break. Guitarist Neil Schuttman have had a vision for many years. To set up a new heavyrock band with a more classic sound. Na twee 'in-your-face' rockers die refereerden naar hun beginjaren, laten Rival Sons met hun derde 'single' en titelnummer van het nieuwe album Feral Roots terug die typische mix van akoestische elementen en stevige rootsrock horen. "That song is one of my favorite collaborations that Scott (Holiday, guitarist) and I have ever done," Buchanan says. "I had written the verses and the chord changes and these lyrics and I showed it to him, and Scott knows I'm very much into Appalachian melodies and the dark side of bluegrass and the mountain side of country music. He immediately goes, 'Yeah, man, I totally get it.' At one point later I called him and said, 'Look man, this is a little too Appalachian-style and I think it needs some fuzz and that collective identity,' and he didn't skip a beat. Dit was het tweede optreden van het najaar waar ik absoluut bij wilde zijn...en het voldeed volledig aan mijn toch erg hoge verwachtingen! Louise Lemón beschikt over een uitstekende stem, is een adembenemende performer (zonder dat ze hiervoor veel hoeft voor rond te huppelen) én heeft een stel prachtmuzikanten rond haar verzameld.
