Hij is al even uit, maar eigenlijk gewoon té goed om hier niet voorbij te laten komen in deze rubriek. Deze ep, Warren of Necrosis, is de opvolger van de in 2025 uitgekomen ep Chronolosys van de Apeldoornse deathmetalclub Black Rabbit. Het openingsnummer, Initium Finis , gaat lieflijk akoestisch van start, om al snel op te bouwen tot een zware, agressieve aanpak vol energie en power. En van daar af wordt het alleen nog maar erger. Heerlijk. En aangezien het maar vier nummer zijn, heeft niemand een excuus om het niet te luisteren. Daar waar de track begint met serieuze Lion King vibes (en dit zeker niet de enige van het album zal zijn met die vibes), gaat het vrij snel over in een episch en typisch Myrath nummer. Al vijfentwintig jaar behoort Kamelot tot de top van de symfonische metal en dit najaar komt de band speciaal voor een tweedaags festival naar Tilburg! In het weekend van halloween presenteert Kamelot onder de noemer KamFest twee avonden in 013, twee verschillende line-ups, één zorgvuldig opgebouwd universum en een zeldzame kans om de volle breedte van hun wereld te ervaren. @Live on the Beach 538 PRESENTS BEATSTAD EDITIE Vrijdag 4 september - Strand van Scheveningen Anouk, Son Mieux en DI-RECT  Op vrijdag 4 september vindt op het strand van Scheveningen een unieke editie van LIVE on the BEACH plaats. Tijdens deze speciale BEATSTAD-editie staat Anouk, Son Mieux en DI-RECT achtereenvolgens op het podium voor één exclusieve concertavond aan zee. DI-RECT sluit de avond af met een uitgebreide show van maar liefst anderhalf uur. Ennui @ Haunting the Castle (Anthisnes, BE) Na 4 lange maanden kon ik eindelijk terug op pad met mijn trouwe Nikon. Haunting the Castle was daar de perfecte gelegenheid voor. Op deze tweede dag toonden deze 8 bands ons dat doom niet saai is, maar net heel divers kan zijn. Doodseskader - Celebrity Culture Simp Farm Doodseskader is (weer) op oorlogspad. Met Celebrity Culture Simp Farm  verklaren ze de jacht op de like-cultuur officieel geopend. Nadat Tim en Sigfried hun afgewerkte plaat Year Three  doodleuk in de vuilbak kieperden — “we zijn niet langer dezelfde mensen” — trokken ze zich een week terug in de studio om The Change Is Me  te schrijven én op te nemen. Een week. Een volledige plaat. Put that in your pipe and smoke it, Axl. Naar goede gewoonte combineert Celebrity Culture Simp Farm  zo’n 4-5 genres tot de typische Doodseskader-sound. Na een explosieve start volgt een dreigende mix van hiphop, industrial, woede, genialiteit and then some. Als je me vraagt om Doodseskader in een paar woorden te omschrijven, kom ik meestal niet verder dan: crimi clowns die je een knuffel wil geven. Geen idee waarom. Maar het klopt. Like. It’s one thing for individuals to get caught in that trap, constantly pressured to present a flawless version of themselves — polished, untouchable, stripped of anything truly human — all in service of wealth, appearance, and whatever keeps people simping for their attention. But witnessing who we now elevate to pedestals is genuinely mind-boggling. These aren’t people to be idolized. Then again, neither am I. This song isn’t about pointing fingers at everyone else. It’s a wake-up call — a reminder that your hard-earned time and money might be flowing toward someone who neither needs it nor deserves it. Choose carefully who you idolize. — Tim De Gieter DOODSESKADER clearly haven’t had enough of redefining boundaries — they’ve only just gotten started. Tim De Gieter and Sigfried Burroughs return on April 3rd, 2026 with their third full-length album, The Change Is Me , a rollercoaster that can only be described as the unstable lovechild between witch house, hip-hop, industrial dream pop, and stadium rock that can’t decide if it wants to watch the world burn or shout from the rooftops that we need to save it. Their combination of grungy 90s melodies with distorted synths, sludgy bass, hard tuned vocals, rapping, singing, and explosions of undiluted rage at the current state of the world leave you wondering just exactly what it was you smoked last night, and if it was too much or not enough. The Change Is Me  is an album that grabs you by the arm and asks if you’re ready to go on a grand adventure, then pulls you into its chaos before you can say “yes” or “no.” Tim and Sigfried aren’t just breaking the boundaries between genres; they’re breaking out of their own Year cycle, a path they had laid out for themselves at the band’s inception in 2020. Up until now, the duo had set out to document their “journey to getting better” through writing one album each year: Year Zero  (2020), Year One  (2022), and most recently Year Two  (2024). After spending eight months throughout 2024 and 2025 writing, recording, producing and mixing Year Three , the band scrapped the finished record entirely. Playing shows while simultaneously navigating the process of mixing Year Three  created a sort of disconnect – the people that they were when they wrote that record and the people that playing shows made them become were no longer one and the same. “We’re people with faults and strengths, and we realized we needed to accept it. That’s equal parts bleak and liberating. If you’re so focused on self-improvement, you can’t even applaud yourself for how far you’ve come,” the band explains. “This project is meant to be a document of us and of the human condition, not a self-improvement handbook designed to keep us all stuck on what may or may not have happened to us or because of us in the past.” DOODSESKADER chose instead to embark anew on a week-long creative journey in Tim’s own Much Luv Studio with one goal in mind: to make an album that captures who they are right now. Finally writing everything together in the same room for the first time in years, the process of bringing The Change Is Me  to life was captured by Diana Lungu in their latest documentary, Now I Know You See Me , out December 3rd, 2025. The Change Is Me  marks the beginning of DOODSESKADER’s shift into a more positive era, both musically and conceptually. Over the course of the 40-minute record we hear the two friends unite in a fight against a world that grows more and more disappointing, a concept made crystal clear in tracks like “Celebrity Culture Simp Farm”, “It Keeps On Stinging”, and of course the album’s epic closer “Suffering In Technicolor”. While their previous albums saw them trying to outrun their pasts and arrive at a better version of themselves, here the search for some external or internal revelation that will “make them better” is no more. It’s been replaced by the realization that change isn’t something we force: it’s gradual, and more importantly, it’s something that’s already there – we just need to reach out and accept it. The band’s live appearances over the last several years have been instrumental in shaping their ideology. On stage is where the duo find connection; not only with the audience, but also with each other. Their sold-out release shows at Ancienne Belgique (2022) and VierNulVier (2024) have proven that they are one of Belgium’s must-see acts. The HU Live at AB - Ancienne Belgique Unieke mix van metal en traditionele Mongoolse keelzang The HU valt meteen op door hun unieke sound: een dreunende bas in heavy metalstijl wordt naadloos vermengd met traditionele Mongoolse folk. Denk aan de tweesnarige paardenviool (morin khuur), de karakteristieke tovshuur en natuurlijk die eeuwenoude keelzang die recht door merg en been gaat. De Mongoolse band brak in geen tijd wereldwijd door toen nummers als “Yuve Yuve Yu” en “Wolf Totem” miljoenen views verzamelden op YouTube. Nu trekken deze folk-metal pioniers door Europa met hun Warrior Chant Tour, vergezeld door special guest SKÁLD. In januari brachten ze nog de nieuwe single “The Real You” uit, en er zit duidelijk nog veel meer nieuw werk in de pijplijn.... Er zijn zo van die bands waarvan je de muziek niet volledig kent, maar je wéet op voorhand al dat het de moeite loont om ze nog een keertje te gaan bekijken. Motionless In White is zo'n band. Een heel goede band die steeds zo'n geweldige live performances brengt, dat het altijd een voorrecht is om ze waar ook in België aan het werk te zien. Dus dat is precies wat ik afgelopen weekend deed: een tripje naar Brussel om de groep, inclusief twee leuke voorprogramma's, te gaan bekijken! Make Them Suffer Ik kan me niet herinneren of ik Make Them Suffer al eerder aan het werk zag . Gelukkig twijfelde de rest van de zaal hier niet aan. Een grote zaal als Vorst Nationaal vullen bij het eerste voorprogramma is niet veel bands meegegeven, maar Make Them Suffer slaagde er wel in. Het feit dat het concert op een zaterdag was, had daar misschien ook wel iets mee te maken. Hoe dan ook, het publiek raakte al snel in de ban van de harde vocals en melodieën van de Australische metalcoregroep. Vooral de combo tussen mannen- en vrouwenstemmen in een band vind ik vaak geweldig. Ook bij Make Them Suffer was dit niet anders. Alles passeerde eigenlijk ook wel de revue (al moest er wel om gevraagd worden): moshpits, circlepits, crowdsurfers. Ook de band zelf was razend enthousiast: gitarist Nick speelde zonder probleem de set met een gebroken been. Een opwarmer van formaat, me dunkt! Dayseeker Ze zijn al een tijdje heel goed bezig, mede dankzij die ene verslavende app daar, en wat mij betreft mogen ze blijven meegaan. Ik zag ze vorig jaar al op Jera On Air en Graspop, waar ze wel goed klonken, maar een festival is toch nog anders dan een zaalshow. Ik was dan ook razend benieuwd om ze eens op een concert te zien, al leek Vorst Nationaal mij misschien iets te groot voor deze band. En ik had het gevoel dat de band hier ook niet helemaal op zijn plaats stond. Don't get me wrong, ik ben zeker en vast fan van Dayseeker; hun vocals, hun sound; count me in! Maar het publiek was precies niet echt mee en de muziek was misschien iets te rustig voor deze line up. Zeker na de power die Make Them Suffer bracht. De muziek zat dus wel goed, maar de sfeer helaas iets minder tijdens deze set. Motionless In White En toen was het eindelijk 21u en het tijd voor hét absolute hoogtepunt van de avond. Onder luid applaus en gejuich werd Motionless In White enthousiast onthaald in Vorst Nationaal. Ze vlogen er meteen in met Meltdown en Sign of Life . Het zal niet verbazen dat ze vanaf de eerste seconde het publiek met zich meehadden. De vocals zaten goed, de sound zat goed en er was meer dan genoeg pyro om iedereen warm te houden. Voor de Afraid of the Dark Tour had de band deze keer ook vier danseressen mee. Nu en dan zorgden de ladies voor een performance met bijpassende kostuums. Zo transformeerden ze voor Werewolves eventjes in weerwolven en mochten ze nu en dan ook met wat pyro spelen. En zelfs een keer met een waterpistool! Ideaal om even af te koelen na al die pyro. De rest van de set verliep wat rustiger en met meer focus op de show zelf, eerder dan het theatrale. Gelukkig weet MIW zich perfect staande te houden zonder al dat extra gedoe. Halverwege de set kwam een van mijn persoonlijke favorieten aan bod: Slaughterhouse . Dit is normaal een collab met Bryan Garris, zanger van Knocked Loose, maar die kon er natuurlijk niet zomaar bij zijn. Gelukkig kon Sean, de zanger van Make Them Suffer, invallen tijdens deze tour. En dat bleek een enorm goed idee te zijn: de stemmen gingen zo goed samen en het nummer werd nog krachtiger. Even later passeerde er ook nog een covertje en voor ik het wist, zaten we al aan het einde de set. Echt ongelofelijk hoe snel de tijd vliegt als elke minuut van de show goed zit! Aan encores doet Motionless In White niet dus na Another Life werd er, hoe kon het ook anders, afgesloten met Eternally Yours . Opnieuw een verdomd goede avond waarbij voor de zoveelste keer duidelijk werd wat Motionless In White in hun mars heeft. Ze verdienen alle succes dat momenteel hun kant opkomt en ik hoop dat we ze nog zo vaak mogelijk mogen verwelkomen in ons kleine landje. Nog geen twee jaar na hun debuut The Moon Lights the Way staat de Finse doommetalband Grain of Pain al op het punt om ons de opvolger voor te schotelen. En daarover zal u ons allerminst horen klagen. Want als dit The Offer een representatief voorafsmaakje is, wordt Behind Us All een album waar liefhebbers van (Scandinavian) melodic doom liefhebbers duimen en vingers van zullen kunnen aflikken. Joining as session musicians are Juho Räihä (guitars, additional screams) and Juuso Raatikainen (drums), both of whom claimed a Finnish Grammy with Swallow the Sun in 2025. Following the signing with German metal specialist Noble Demon in April 2024 for their debut release ("The Moon Lights The Way"), GRAIN OF PAIN now raises the stakes with "Behind Us All", their second studio album, set for release in March 2026. Hoelang bestaat deze band nu al? Hoelang zijn wij al verstokte fan? Hoeveel steengoede muziek heeft deze band ons al gegeven? Antwoorden zijn: lang, lang en héél véél maar er mogen er altijd nog enkele bij. En op 13 maart is het dan zover. Dan verschijnt eindelijk het langverwachte album Into Oblivion via Century Media Records. Met een titel als Blunt Force Blues kan deze track niets anders zijn dan een muzikale mokerslag natuurlijk. Eentje waarin frontman Randy Blythe terugdenkt aan de Richmond scene midden jaren negentig en hoe de andere bands daaruit ook hun invloed hadden op de sound van Lamb of God. The track serves as the final preview of the band’s forthcoming album, which arrives on March 13 via Epic Records. Randy Blythe reflects on Lamb of God’s formative years on the new single: “We learned how to play by watching and hanging out with other local dudes. That’s what we aspired to do – keep up with good local bands. Ik dacht eerst met een volledig nieuwe band te maken te hebben, maar blijkbaar heeft deze band meer dan een decennium geleden toch al enkele albums uitgebracht. Die heb ik helaas nooit gehoord. Het aankomende album Constellation Zero, dat uitkomt op 15 mei via Inverse Records, zal bijgevolg een bijzonder aangename kennismaking worden, daar ben ik nu al zeker van. Want deze The Way of the Voice heeft alles wat mij bekoort in melodeathmetal. Episch, razende drums, gruizelende grunts, scheurende gitaren en dat alles overgoten met die Finse melancholische saus. Luister/kijk ook eens naar de vorige singles The Black Star en Neon Frontiers .
