  • Sounds | Sons Of Apollo, Goodbye Divinity

SONS OF APOLLO--former Dream Theater members Mike Portnoy and Derek Sherinian, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal (ex-Guns N’ Roses), Billy Sheehan (The Winery Dogs, Mr. Big, David Lee Roth) and Jeff Scott Soto (ex-Journey, ex-Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force)--are ready to ring in the new decade with a sonic boom with their second studio album, appropriately titled, ‘MMXX’ (pronounced: 20/20). Produced by The Del Fuvio Brothers (Portnoy and Sherinian), ‘MMXX’ will be released on January 17th, 2020 via InsideOutMusic/Sony as a standard CD package, Limited Edition 2 CD package (which includes instrumental mixes and a cappella excerpts), 2 LP + CD package, and on all digital formats. Mike Portnoy comments:“From the minute we finished writing Goodbye Divinity, I knew we had our album opener and the first release off the album. I even remember posting on social media how excited I was about the song the day I tracked it!" The song has an immediacy that grabs you right away: great riffs, flashy playing and hooky vocal melodies. All of the elements that make up the SOA sound. The video was directed by Vicente Cordero who I have now done over 20 music videos with and its look helps catapult the band from the Greek mythological past of the last album into the 21st century with this new album.” “Stylistically, we have followed the same path as the debut,” outlines drummer Mike Portnoy. “But we feel that it has come out stronger, simply because we know one another better. ‘PSYCHOTIC SYMPHONY’ was the first time the five of us had worked together, so there was bound to be an air of experimentation happening. Now, we can draw on having the experience not only of recording that album, but also of touring together a lot. And now there is clearly a lot more obvious chemistry going on.” “We did 83 shows on the last tour,” adds keyboardist Derek Sherinian. “And it was so worthwhile, because we came out of it with a stronger bond, and that is certainly reflected in what we wrote.” The writing process began at the start of the year, as Portnoy, Sherinian and guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal got together. “The three of us were at my home studio in Pennsylvania,” explains Portnoy. “And it took about three weeks to get all the music written. That was a very smooth process. “Because we all have our home studios, it meant everyone could record there as and when they had opportunity,” continues Sherinian. “We all had the luxury of being able to take our time to get all the parts done, which was a huge help in the way the album's come out. I suppose in all, it took about eight months to record everything. ”There are eight tracks on ‘MMXX’, with variations in length totalling 60 minutes. “The final song is 'New World Today, which is 16 minutes long,” says Portnoy. “This one has elements similar to 'Opus Maximus' and 'Labyrinth' on the previous album. It has some insane, brilliant instrumental moments, which I am sure the fans will love.” “We wanted to do something epic here, as we did with 'Opus Maximus' last time around,” adds Sherinian. “You have to remember that Mike and I come from Dream Theater, where we never bothered about how long a song was. So, for us doing a 16 minute track is not a problem.” The album title was inspired by a simple chronological fact. “This will be released in mid-January 2020,” says Portnoy. “That means it will be one of the first releases in what is a new decade. So I came up with the idea of calling it '2020,’ except having it written in the Latin form of 'MMXX'.” And the album’s artwork has been created by Thomas Ewerhard (who was responsible for the cover design of ‘PSYCHOTIC SYMPHONY’), which inevitably reflects the title. As Portnoy explains, “For the first record, we had a mythological feel. This time around though, there's a much more futuristic style to what we've got. It has a very 21st century appeal. And the band crest is more polished, cleaned up and a lot more modern than last time, when it had an old fashioned look.” “Each member of this band has their own signature sound on their instrument,” adds Sherinian. “And when you put all of this together what you get is a wonderful five-headed beast. It makes this a sonically special band, which is definitely what comes across on ‘MMXX’. You can hear odd time signatures and amazingly crazy performances here. Overall, we've been satisfyingly more adventurous this time than we were before, and I know people are sure to love what we've done.” (Bron: @SonsOfApollo1) website #music #muziek #sounds #newmusic #newsong #newalbum #newvideo #johnvandemergel #sonsofapollo #mmxx #goodbyedivinity #centurymediarecords

  • Sounds | The Cadillac Three, Long After Last Call

Laten we alvast genieten van een eerste single Long After Last Call.. Back Home, hell yeah, a call to all cowboys and cowgirls to dust off those boots and start dancing. Luister ook naar: Back Home Slow Rollin' Live 8 maart 2020, tijdens het Country to Country festival, AFAS Live (Amsterdam) Even voorstellen When it comes to straddling the line between rowdy country music and rebellious hard rock, no one does it better than The Cadillac Three. Name another band that can play a country festival with Florida Georgia Line or Keith Urban one day and then jet off to the U.K. to share the stage with Metallica or Slayer the next. On the Nashville trio’s long-awaited fourth album, they push their country, hard rock and southern rock bona fides to the limit while also introducing elements of funk and soul. The result is a dirty, greasy and hard-hitting sound that can only belong to The Cadillac Three — one they've christened COUNTRY FUZZ. But COUNTRY FUZZ isn’t just the name of the group’s new album. It’s also their aesthetic, the phrase that best sums up both the music and lifestyle of singer-guitarist Jaren Johnston, drummer Neil Mason and lap-steel alchemist Kelby Ray, three guys who have become closer than brothers while growing up and playing in bands together in America’s most buzzed-about music city. “We’ve been COUNTRY FUZZ forever,” says Jaren. “When I think of Southern rock, I think of Lynyrd Skynyrd. When I think of country, I think Garth Brooks. This record and this band are all of that. But it’s also ZZ Top and Jerry Reed. It’s Medeski Martin & Wood and Prince. There’s no better way to describe who we are than Country Fuzz.” “It’s not easy to land on something that is your own thing, but we’re proud to say we did that,” Neil says of the band’s sound. “It works for us in any direction that we’re going. COUNTRY FUZZ is anything from a stripped-down country ballad to a sludgy, riff-heavy rock song. And it’s also country-funk.” “We’ve matured as musicians and as a band,” says Kelby, whose lap steel lays down the bass line for The Cadillac Three and is largely responsible for the trio’s one-of-a-kind vibe. “Our sound is second nature to us and that only comes from playing together for as long as we have.” Averaging 140 shows a year, The Cadillac Three are perpetually burning up the highway, Traveling 40 out of 52 weeks. It’s grueling, committed work, but Jaren, Neil and Kelby wouldn’t have it any other way. Nor would the band’s fans, who make pilgrimages to see The Cadillac Three and will often catch an entire weekend’s worth of gigs. To reward that devotion, the group was adamant about giving their fans as many songs as they could on COUNTRY FUZZ. The 16 tracks on the record touch on all eras of the band’s history, from the swampy stomp of their 2012 self-titled debut and the power chords of 2016’s BURY ME IN MY BOOTS to the polish of 2017’s LEGACY. The trio wrote much of COUNTRY FUZZ, which they also produced, with their live show in mind. ”As many shows as we play, we still switch our sets up every night. We really try to do something different, and now we have 16 new songs that we can add in,” says Neil. With its serpentine lick and Jaren’s thick-as-syrup delivery, “Slow Rollin” echoes the band’s most-played live song, the fan favorite “Tennessee Mojo.” The group wrote “Slow Rollin” on the bus before a show in Las Vegas, with Jaren plugging in and rattling the back lounge. “I had the amp in the back of the bus, and when you turn it to 11, it’s loud as fuck,” he laughs. “I wrote that riff and was like, ‘How the hell didn’t we write ‘Slow Rollin’ yet?’ It’s such an obvious TC3 song.” So is “Hard Out Here for a Country Boy,” a tongue-in-cheek list of all the things that good ol’ boys deal with on a daily basis while trying to live “that slow life in a real fast world.” Chris Janson sings a verse and adds harmonica, while the band’s recent tourmate Travis Tritt lends his unmistakable voice to the commanding choruses. “Heat” is equally hard-hitting. A fiery salute to a lady who’s as combustible as “in a bar fight with gasoline,” it slinks along on Neil’s rhythmic beat before exploding in a noisy breakdown that blends Kelby’s steel with Jaren’s guitar. Even so, Neil calls it more of a vocal song.”It’s a chance for Jaren to show off his voice and the way that it’s matured,” he says. While the band still sing about cold beer, hell-raising and Saturday nights, the idea of maturity underscores all of COUNTRY FUZZ. The Cadillac Three have never been as cohesive a unit as they are here, with all three musicians seemingly sharing the same musically tattooed brain. When Kelby adds subtle slide in the stunning closer “After Last Call” to accentuate Jaren’s delivery, Neil instinctively knows to pull back and give the notes room to breathe. “We’ve always been pretty good at that,” says Jaren. “But we’re all focusing more on our instruments. I care more about playing guitar now than I ever have, and I’ve been honing that. And Kelby is figuring out different ways to make his lap steel work in the songs, especially with the funkier stuff.” That new funky direction is readily apparent in the devil disco of “The Jam” and on the swerving “Blue El Camino,” two tracks on COUNTRY FUZZ that point to the future of The Cadillac Three. “When we started playing “The Jam” at soundcheck, I used the lap steel to build a bass line and glue together Jaren’s funky guitar,” says Kelby. “It’s a cool new sound for us” “The funkier aspects of this record is where we’re wanting to go, but with big ol’ country hooks,” adds Jaren, “because that is what we’re addicted to from growing up in Nashville. We love country songwriting and huge hooks.” Still, The Cadillac Three refuse to be categorized. Listen to the song “Labels,” a brilliant, succinct slice of songwriting from Neil with Corey Crowder and Luke Dick, that asks, “I wonder what you see when you look at me?” It’s a pulsing anthem, with Jaren repeating, “Nobody wants to be labeled,” and stands as one of the band’s most incisive songs. Along with the heavy-funk explorations, Country Fuzz marks a first for the group: “Back Home” is the only song the group has ever recorded that at least one of its members didn’t write. Co-written by Craig Wiseman, James McNair and Chris Tompkins, the tune is a straight-ahead blast of country-rock nostalgia and proved irresistible to The Cadillac Three. “I couldn’t imagine anyone doing “Back Home” more than I could us doing it,” says Neil. “That’s the true test of what is or isn’t a Cadillac Three song.” “The story was so good and the syncopation of the lyrics flowed so well that I knew we could make it work,'“ says Jaren. “That song is a hit, but it’s still very much us.” Without a doubt, The Cadillac Three know exactly who they are — and they say the same is true of their fans. It’s all one big community that’s summed up by Country Fuzz. The trio is even launching a clothing line under the Country Fuzz name. “The Cadillac Three are at a place now where we’re not scared to take chances and see what we can actually become,” says Jaren. “The path we’re on is the natural way we do things, making each album and idea bigger than the last one,” Kelby says. “It's like a pitstop on a motorcycle ride, where you stop here, grab a beer, look around, learn from it, and then keep riding.” And COUNTRY FUZZ provides the soundtrack for that ride. “This album has a little bit of everything, and you can see where we started and where we’re going,” Jaren says. “The Cadillac Three is evolving in a badass new way.” (Bron: thecadillacthree.com) website #music #muziek #sounds #newmusic #newsong #newalbum #newvideo #vincentwillems #southernrock #rockyou #country #TheCadillacThree #nashville #KelbyRay #JarenJohnston #NeilMason #countrytocountry #greenhousetalent

  • Sounds | Mike and the Moonpies, You Look Good in Neon

Cheap Silver and Solid Country Gold verscheen eerder dit jaar via Prairie Rose Records. Even voorstellen Recorded at Abbey Road Studios with help from the London Symphony Orchestra,Cheap Silver and Solid Country Gold is Mike and the Moonpies' most adventurous record to date — an album that diversifies the band's honky-tonk roots by adding lush strings, cinematic arrangements, and collaborative songwriting to the mix. Inspired in part by the classic "countrypolitan" music of the 1960s and early '70s, these songs find frontman Mike Harmeier channeling the smooth delivery of crooners like Glen Campbell and Frank Sinatra, backed by a band of road warriors who all played a major role in the songs' construction. The result is a modern record steeped in everything that made the old stuff so compelling: sharp storytelling; honest, dynamic performances; and a willingness to step far outside the box. Once celebrated as Austin's premiere dancehall band — with popular residencies at local institutions like The Hole In the Wall, Broken Spoke and the White Horse to match — the Moonpies have spent years expanding their reach far beyond the Lone Star State. Geographically, they'll always be a Texas band. Musically, they've grown into much more than that, having traded the two-steppin' twang of their earlier years for a diverse sound that's both fresh and familiar. That sound has earned the group an international following, and it was during a European tour that the bulk of Cheap Silver and Solid Country Gold was created — in the same world-renowned, London-area recording studio where the Beatles recorded Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Bandand Pink Floyd tracked Dark Side of the Moon, no less. "Every time we've taken a step forward, it's a result of us refusing to become stagnant," says Harmeier, who's joined by his longtime band — pedal steel player Zach Moulton, guitarist Catlin Rutherford, bassistOmar Oyoque, keyboardist John Carbone, drummer Kyle Ponder, and producer/collaborator Adam Odor — on Cheap Silver and Solid Country Gold's eight tracks. "We left our dancehall residencies years ago because we wanted to expand our touring beyond Texas. We updated our approach withMockingbird, then went back to a more traditional sound — in a 1970s, Johnny Paycheck-inspired way — with [2018’s break-out album] Steak Night at the Prairie Rose. 10 years into our career, we're still finding our voice… and we're realizing that maybe it's not onevoice, but a collection of voices." A collection of voices, indeed. The album's lead single, "You Look Good in Neon," is a nostalgic toe-tapper that evokes Ronnie Milsap's golden years, while "Fast as Lightning" is a raucous road song that's every bit as electrifying as its title. On the nostalgic "Cheap Silver," Harmeiertakes stock of his band's progress as an eight-piece string section swoons in the background, while on "Danger" — a hard-charging epic that's fit for a Hollywood western, with a cameo by Shooter Jennings to boot — he sings directly to his son. Also making guest appearances on the album are modern-day outlaw Nikki Lane, who contributes harmony vocals to "Miss Fortune," and fellow Texas native Season Ammons, who shows up during the album's elegant cover of Gary P. Nunn's "London Homesick Blues." Although largely recorded in London, Cheap Silver and Solid Country Gold still owes its inception to Texas, where the bandmates spent a week co-writing and arranging songs at renowned yellow DOG Studios in Wimberley, TX. "Everyone had a hand in the creation process, from start to finish," says Harmeier, who shares co-writing credits with multiple Moonpies throughout the album. "I usually come to the table with all the songs already written, but this album is entirely different. We worked on everything together. It was the most collaborative thing we've ever done. It was truly the work of a band." It's been more than a decade since Mike and the Moonpies launched their career, initially paying their dues as a versatile cover band with a catalog of 300 songs. Cheap Silver and Solid Country Gold nods to those woodshedding days — not only in the album's title track, where Harmeierraises a drink and sings, "Here's to another night of paying our dues," but also in the album's handful of cover songs. The boys resurrect the twangy spirit of their dancehall days with "If You Want A Fool Around," written by Billy Troy and BennieBoling, and also put their own stamp on Aaron Sinclair's "Young in Love." Those covers serve as a tip-of-the-hat to the band's roots, while also demonstrating that the Moonpies' own songs pack just as much punch as the songs of their heroes. Harmeier and company haven't forgotten about their bar-band beginnings, but these days, they're more interested in creating their own gold. Cheap Silver and Solid Country Gold rewrites the definition of Mike and the Moonpies' music, turning vintage influences into a contemporary that's dark, reflective, and refined. • Sounds | 3Teeth, President X

Metawar hadden we eigenlijk zelf moeten reviewen, but hey, erover gekeken zeker? Gigview schreef erover. Live vrijdag 7 februari, Kavka Oudaan (Antwerpen) Even voorstellen 3Teeth is an American industrial metal band from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 2013, the band currently consists of Alexis Mincolla (vocals), Chase Brawner (guitars), Xavier Swafford (keys & synth), Andrew Means (modular synth & bass), and Justin Hanson (drums). They have currently released three studio albums - their self-titled debut in 2014 and in 2017. Their third studio album, Metawar, was released on July 5, 2019 on Century Media Records. The group initially formed as a fun passion-project between Mincolla and Swafford,[1] who lived down the street from each other in Los Angeles.[2] Mincolla did not have a musical background but had experience in visual arts and promotion. Mincolla and Swafford met at a weekly party called Lil Death,[3] which was hosted by Mincolla, where they began discussing some ideas for a multi-media mix of visuals and music.[4] The two soon met Andrew Means after being impressed by an online video he sent the pair which Mincolla described as looking "like a computer virus."[4] After some of their music was hosted online and began to gain traction, the three sought out a guitarist for the project. Guitar work had initially been outsourced but the turnaround time was slow. Means had grown up with Brawner and suggested that the trio audition him, and after a successful audition Chase joined and 3Teeth had officially formed.[4][5] The band took the name 3teeth from the concepts of Odontomancy, which Mincolla described as an ancient form of divination where "the seer would read prophecies in the teeth like rune stones."[6] as well as the word trident, which comes from Latin for "three teeth." Mincolla said of the trident: "...this divine weapon of God that brings destruction. It's what Marduk killed Tiamat with -- this caught thunderbolt or trident."[7] The original line-up consisted of Mincolla, Brawner, Swafford, and Means, with Andrew Means performing live drums on an electric kit.[8] Andrew Melendez joined as a live drummer the spring and summer tours in 2017[9] before Justin Hanson joined the group in the fall of 2017. The band signed to Century Media Records in April 2018 with Hanson being announced as the official fifth member of the band.[10] (Bron: Wikipedia) website #music #muziek #sounds #newmusic #newsong #newalbum #newvideo #johnvandemergel #3teeth #presidentx #centurymediarecords

  • Sounds | The Highwomen, Redesigning Women

Even voorstellen In 2016, when Shires was finishing her record, My Piece of Land, in music producer Dave Cobb's studio, Shires had an idea to create a girl country supergroup in homage to the legendary Highwaymen country supergroup (consisting of ...). At the same time, the lack of representation of women artists on country music radio and at country music festivals had been publicly discussed by many, influenced by the Me Too movement and journalists like Marissa Moss. While on tour in her van, while listening to country radio, Shires kept a running list of artists and noticed that there were few women. When she called to request they play more women artists, she was directed to a Facebook page lottery system. Cobb recommended Shires call Carlile, whom she didn't know. Carlile thought it would be fun, and would be an interesting creative project. The Highwomen project was widely hinted at by Carlile, Morris and Shires before it was officially announced on April 6, 2019. With the name paying homage to the legendary Highwaymen country supergroup, the Highwomen were originally intended to leave the fourth spot in their line-up vacant to allow other female collaborators to join them, with Chely Wright, Courtney Marie Andrews, Margo Price, Janelle Monae and Sheryl Crow mentioned as potential guests. The band, who jokingly refer to the collaboration as a pirate ship experience, said that they see the project as an incubator project that highlights mentorship and support of fellow women artists. Maren hadn't worked with Cobb before, and remarked on how much she liked tracking live. The band recorded live vocals, live band, harmonies in unison, where the musicians were recording together live in an organic environment at historic RCA Studio A, which Cobb now owns. As part of the experience, some of the members got matching Highwomen tattoos. The group made their live debut on April 1, 2019 at Loretta Lynn's 87th birthday concert held at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. There, Natalie Hemby was officially revealed as the final member and the quartet performed "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels". Their debut single, "Redesigning Women", and its associated music video featuring female artists including Tanya Tucker, Cam, Lauren Alaina, Cassadee Pope and Wynonna Judd was released on 19 July 2019, with their self-titled debut album (set for release on September 6) becoming available for pre-order on the same day. The song was promoted by country singer Dierks Bentley who released a comedic reading of the lyrics to his YouTube Channel which received praise from Carlile and Morris. Their second single, "Crowded Table", written by band member Hemby and Lori McKenna, was released on July 26, 2019. In July 2019, the Highwomen performed their first ever full live set at the 60th annual Newport Folk Festival, previewing songs from their upcoming album including "If She Ever Leaves Me", written by Shires, her husband Jason Isbell and Chris Thompkins. With Carlile on lead vocals, Isbell described it as "the first gay country song" which elicited applause from the audience. Other songs performed included "My Only Child", an ode to "suburban moms" performed by Hemby who wrote the track with Shires and Miranda Lambert, "Loose Change", a nod to 70s country written by Morris, Daniel Layus of Augustana, and Maggie Chapman, featuring Morris on lead vocals and "Cocktail and a Song" which was written solely by Shires in honor of her father. Carlile later invited the rest of the Highwomen to join her during her headlining set where, as they originally intended, the group performed alongside other female artists including Amy Ray, Courtney Marie Andrews, Dolly Parton, Jade Bird, Judy Collins, Linda Perry, Lucy Dacus, Our Native Daughters, Sheryl Crow, The First Ladies of Bluegrass, and Yola Carter. Shires said the plan was always to debut their music at Newport with Dolly Parton. The band wore custom suits by Manuel. Their cover of "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac from the soundtrack of the movie The Kitchen debuted during the film's first trailer and was officially released on August 2, 2019.[The title track of their self-titled debut album was released on August 13, 2019. Written by Carlile and Shires with Jimmy Webb, the original writer of "Highwayman", the track that originally inspired the Highwomen's formation, it tells the story of various women throughout history and features guest vocals from British country soul singer Yola Carter and backing vocals from Sheryl Crow. The song is a classic answer song. The band recorded 15 songs, but only 12 tracks made it on the album. Songwriters included the aforementioned Jimmy Webb, Rodney Clawson, Maggie Chapman, Lori McKenna, Jason Isbell, Peter Levin, Miranda Lambert, Ray LaMontagne, among many others. Many of the songs flip gender roles, with additions of characters like refugee, preacher, Freedom Rider, and a healer, compared to the characters drawn by the Highwaymen songs. website #music #muziek #sounds #newmusic #newsong #newalbum #newvideo #johnvandemergel #TheHighwomen #brandicralisle #marenmorris #nataliehemby #amandashires #elektrarecords

  • Sounds | Moon Tooth, Trust

Hun tweede album Crux verscheen in maart via Pure Noise Records. Even voorstellen From Long Island, New York, Moon Tooth set the bar high with their 2016 debut full-length, Chromaparagon – a fusion of rock, metal, and blues, that bursted with color. Drawing comparisons to Mastodon, Gojira, and Living Colour, Chromaparagon's aggressive, progressive sound possessed a soulfulness and swing that set it apart from the pack. Premier Guitar described the album with these words: “Unbridled turbulence. Dexterous metal riffing. Soulful vocals over layers of melodies and shifting rhythms... An epic journey through countless sonic realms." In the wake of that fiery debut, the next three years saw Moon Tooth amass over 1 million Spotify streams, and play their 400th show by way of tours with Intronaut, Fit For An Autopsy, Astronoid, and more. 2019: the band now gears up for its next chapter. With pre-production handled by the dream team of Machine (King Crimson, Every Time I Die) and Lamb of God's Mark Morton, and production by Moon Tooth drummer Ray Marté, sophomore album Crux harnesses Moon Tooth's formidable musicianship into its strongest material to date. With chops as lethal as those wielded by Moon Tooth's four members – Marté, guitarist Nick Lee, bassist Vincent Romanelli, and vocalist John Carbone – many a band would fall prey to the lure of the jazz odyssey, but Moon Tooth proves its greatness by channeling its skills into concise, crankable anthems. The musical ground covered within just 3-5 minutes on Crux is astonishing, yet the band never loses sight of the big picture. The tech never overshadows the songcraft; Moon Tooth shred like assassins, but only in service of the songs. The result: Crux is an album that belongs equally to the passerby on the street and the musician practicing scales. Moon Tooth's unmistakable vibe flourishes on Crux: soaring vocals, fleet-fingered axe-slaying, and muscular rhythms (and polyrhythms) combine into glorious, hard-rocking hymns. Crux shows a deep respect for classic rock and heavy metal – Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Rush, and Judas Priest are starting points from which the band zooms into outer space, leaving a trail of vivid, heavy, modern rock. Marté's production, boosted by Machine's and Morton's input, puts a world-class shine on the sound, resulting in a feast of metallic crunch and ear-melting hooks. Crux delivers on all of Moon Tooth's early promise and will send this band hurtling forward along its path. Frontman John Carbone's lyrics address this very situation – reaching the crossroads of a normal life and an artist's life, and choosing to commit to the latter. He explains: "This album is about not giving up. It's about the furious hope that brings fighters back to their feet again and again. Having answered the call to adventure, having grappled with what will surely be only the first set of trials, having sacrificed and lost so much, 'Crux' finds the band at a tipping point. There is nothing left but for the old life to die and the new, true life to begin." Since the release of 'Crux' Moon Tooth has hit the road with bands such as Animals As Leaders, The Contortionist, Mark Morton (Lamb of God), Light The Torch, and they show no sign of slowing down anytime soon. website #music #muziek #sounds #newmusic #newsong #newalbum #newvideo #johnvandemergel #moontooth #crux #trust #purenoiserecords

  • Sounds | Yola, Walk Through Fire

Even voorstellen Yola (born Yolanda Quartey; 1983) is a Grammy nominated musician, singer and songwriter from Bristol, England. She has also gone by the name Yola Carter. She became the lead singer of the band Phantom Limb, who released their first album in 2010. She has sung backing vocals for numerous artists including Massive Attack, The Chemical Brothers and Iggy Azalea. Yola received four nominations at the 62nd Grammy Awards, including the all-genre Best New Artist category. Yola released her first solo EP, Orphan Offering, in 2016. In February 2019, she released her debut album Walk Through Fire on Dan Auerbach's Easy Eye Sound label, to much acclaim. The album title references both a fire which damaged Yola's home and an abusive relationship from which she escaped. Walk Through Fire was written, recorded and produced at Dan Auerbach's Easy Eye Studio in Nashville. Auerbach produced the record and assembled an all-star cast for its creation. Most of the songwriting was a collaboration of Yola and Auerbach with contributions from Bobby Wood, Pat McLaughlin and Dan Penn. The team of studio musicians included bassist Dave Roe, harmonica player Charlie McCoy along with former members of the Memphis Boys drummer Gene Crisman and Wood on piano. Additional vocals were contributed by Vince Gill, Molly Tuttle, Ronnie McCoury and Stuart Duncan. The album was recorded and engineered by M. Allen Parker. Auerbach and Parker also mixed the project. Yola made a splash at the Newport Folk Festival 2019 with Rolling Stone proclaiming, "Yola became the single most sought-after voice at this year’s festival. She played a triumphant side-stage show, served as an unofficial member of The Highwomen, and added her own vocals to performances by everyone from Dolly Parton to Dawes, who let the fast-rising singer take over for the entirety of their 2009 song “When You Call My Name.” Walk Through Fire generated three Grammy Award nominations. The album was nominated for Best Americana Album and the track "Faraway Look" was nominated for Best American Roots Song and Best American Roots Performance. Additionally, Yola was nominated for Best New Artist. website #music #muziek #sounds #newmusic #newsong #newalbum #newvideo #johnvandemergel #yola #walkthroughfire #Webwarnermusicinternationalsite #nonesuchrecords

  • News | Oilsjt Omploft: hard gaan in Aalst!

If you like it hard and fast, one place to go end of March, Oilsjt Omploft. Tickets & Info 21 maart 020, Sint-Annazaal, Aalst #festivals #festivalnews #festivalnieuws #news #ReinoutVanVaerenbergh #oilsjtomploft
