Nieuws | Thomas Miller (ex-Symphony X) lanceert Lazarus Effect en tekent bij Sensory Records

Thomas Miller, voormalig bassist van Symphony X, maakt zijn terugkeer naar de progmetalscene met Lazarus Effect, zijn nieuwe soloproject. Het project heeft inmiddels onderdak gevonden bij Sensory Records, dat het debuutalbum later dit jaar zal uitbrengen.

Voor Miller betekent de deal de bekroning van een lang traject. Jarenlang werkte hij aan het schrijven en opnemen van zijn eerste soloalbum. Daarbij kreeg hij hulp van enkele oude bekenden uit zijn verleden bij Symphony X.

Thomas Miller schrijft:

“I'm very excited to announce, after years of contemplating and eventually writing and recording my first solo project, the signing to Sensory Records. After speaking and collaborating with Ken Golden, I've decided it's the perfect team to launch the CD and start the promotions for a Fall 2026 release. I met Ken in 1998, while still in Symphony X, and always had it in the back of my mind that, if I did decide to record and release an album, he'd be at the top of the list.

I hope everyone is as excited as I am. Between recording with some of my old friends and bandmates to finding the perfect match in Sensory Records to give it the proper attention and promotional care I was hoping for. So, the new chapter has begun, and I'm looking forward to a prosperous future relationship with Sensory Records and re-connecting with the old fans as well as new ones. Stay tuned.”

“I was a fan of Symphony X early on and met Thomas back in 1998. Those Symphony X albums were part of my introduction into the world of progressive metal and instantly won me over. Thomas was a vital part of the band’s sound, and I feel that the Lazarus Effect project is going to surprise and excite fans of Symphony X and Thomas’ brilliant bass work.”

Miller begon zijn muzikale loopbaan in New Jersey, waar hij in de jaren tachtig gitarist Michael Romeo ontmoette. De twee speelden samen in verschillende bands voordat zij in 1994 Symphony X oprichtten. Met albums als The Damnation Game, The Divine Wings of Tragedy en Twilight in Olympus groeide de band uit tot een van de meest invloedrijke namen binnen de progressieve metal.

Na zijn vertrek uit Symphony X bleef Miller actief als songwriter en muzikant. Een samenwerking met zanger Hollywood How Portney vormde uiteindelijk de basis voor Lazarus Effect. Voor het debuutalbum schakelde hij opnieuw enkele vertrouwde namen in. Zo zijn Michael Romeo en toetsenist Michael Pinnella op het album te horen, terwijl Eric Rachel (bekend van de eerste zes Symphony X-albums) verantwoordelijk was voor de mix en mastering.
