The song, which is a slight departure from our previous work, almost ended up on our album Monuments. Ultimately we felt like the time wasn’t right but fast forward a few years, we had a few playthroughs and finally we felt like we were able to do the song justice.   This album is very much about trying out new styles and techniques and this was the perfect fit for this diverse catalog of songs. At this point in our career we feel like we can really try completely new things and just allow songs to be what they are without having to adhere to a certain style and I think it really shows with this album.   Lyrically the song was written when I was at a certain crossroads in my life. It reflects on that through the lens of being lost in a forest at nighttime and your mind racing at every sound and sight. Robin Kester is een Nederlandse singer-songwriter met een dromerig, filmisch geluid dat balanceert tussen indiepop, ambient en alternative. Haar breekbare stem en gelaagde producties doen denken aan Portishead en Julia Holter. Haar debuut ‘Honeycomb Shades’ (2023) werd door NRC en de Volkskrant uitgeroepen tot beste Nederlandse album van het jaar. Op 12 september volgt ‘Dark Sky Reserve’, haar meest persoonlijke werk tot nu toe. Gemaakt in Rotterdam en Bristol met producer Ali Chant (PJ Harvey), en met bijdragen van o.a. Adrian Utley (Portishead). Kester combineert minimalistische teksten met rijke arrangementen van Wurlitzer, strijkers en fuzzy gitaren. De sfeer van het album is geïnspireerd door het mysterieuze waterreservoir van Talybont-on-Usk in Wales, en verkent thema’s als verlies, vervreemding en hoop. In navolging van Odd Love (2024) krijgen we met Nightshifter een nummer dat dateert van tijdens die opnamesessies. Het is één van de twee die destijds te donker werden bevonden en nu verschijnt op een two-track EP. Loodzwaar, gedrenkt in angst en traag en allesverwoestend als lava. They share their experience of the archetypal downside of life as a touring musician: returning home alone and tired after weeks on the road, losing sight of the meaning of it all.Like many of their peers, they are familiar with the toll that a career in a band takes on personal lives, relationships, and health. Despite its hopeless vibe, this song is intended as a way to exorcise and accept this aspect of their fate, allowing them to move forward. A kind of prophylactic catharsis to help them to keep focusing on what matters most: keeping the band rolling.Carefully produced by Californian engineer and musician Scott Evans (Kowloon Walled City), these four minutes of noise are a perfect example of what Evans's own "Sad Dude Core" recipe is good for: draining the pain away. As singer Louis Jucker says: “Anyone who has been on tour has experienced this at least once:the tour is over, it's late at night, you're standing in front of your apartment door trying to find your keys in a bag full of stench. No one's home and your fridge is empty, except maybe for that poor limp carrot you forgot there when you left. John Maus maakt goth-pop met een filosofische twist. Zijn diepe baritonstem, vintage synthesizers en middeleeuwse toonladders klinken als een nachtmerrie in neon – ergens tussen de jaren ’80, een kerkkoor en een elektronische koortsdroom. Denk: Joy Division meets Bach in een bizarre synthwereld. Als voormalig bandlid van onder andere Ariel Pink en Animal Collective speelde Maus een sleutelrol in het ontstaan van de hypnagogic pop-scene. Zijn lo-fi synthpop was z’n tijd ver vooruit en heeft nog steeds grote invloed. Live is Maus een wervelwind: hij zweet, schreeuwt, beweegt alsof zijn leven ervan afhangt. Elke show is geladen, emotioneel en hypnotiserend. Met zijn nieuwe album ‘Later Than You Think’ levert hij opnieuw een persoonlijk, spiritueel geladen werk af met donkere synths, gregoriaanse invloeden en songs die zowel lekker dansbaar als diepgaand zijn. Don't miss out on our return to the woods of Zottegem, European capital of post-rock music. Please take your time when browsing through the ticket shop and have a look at the nice things we're offering in combination with your ticket. In the first stage of the ticket shop you can select your ticket . You can choose to buy a 1-day ticket or a combi ticket for the whole experience. Please be aware that if you want to camp at the festival, you will need a camping ticket to access the camping area. One camping ticket is valid for one person. Everyone staying at the camping area will require a camping ticket. Only glampers have their camping entrance included in the glamping booking. Please bring your own camping gear.  If you're in for some glamping you can choose our pre-built options in the first stage of the ticket check-out as well. We were able to find some very nice options for those who can't (or don't want to) bring a tent. Please be aware that these options are limited. Kapi Tip-up is a sturdy tent with a wooden floor and frame. Available for two people. Comes with a portable lamp. Kapihut is a tent with more volume and can house 2 or 4 people. This comes with a power plug and lights. This hut can be locked. Festihut was offered in earlier years as well and is a wooden cabin with two bunk beds to house 4 people for the weekend. All those options include beds, sheets and pillows. Check-in is open from Wednesday evening. Check-out on Sunday morning. There will be toilets and showers available on this part of the camping terrain. The glamping options are only available for the entire duration of the festival and can't be booked for one night. Booking a Kapi Tip-up, Kapihut or Festihut does not include your entrance ticket to the festival. You need a combi-ticket to enter the festival. Deus Vult @ Festival Mediaval (Selb, DE) De zaterdagochtend van Festival Mediaval begon met een gezonde competitie. Een bandwedstrijd tussen 3 alternative metal bands, Dtorn, Lykana en Bosparans Fall. Deze wedstrijd werd gejureerd door 5 doorgewinterde kenners van de Duitse muziekwereld. De hoofdprijs? Volgend jaar op het hoofdpodium de zaterdag openen. Na de competitie was het tijd voor de rest van het programma, gevuld met muziek van Duitse bodem en grote internationale namen. Laat me nog eens doen wat ik in al die jaren schrijven voor BIR al een drietal keer eerder heb geflikt: gewoon de tekst van een eerder stukje hernemen. Waarom ik dat zou doen? Simpelweg omdat ik ook deze keer exact hetzelfde gevoel heb, m.n. dat de band in kwestie zo goed als exact dezelfde songs maakt als destijds. Ik zou evengoed de nieuwe Alter Bridge single - en het daaropvolgende album - aan me kunnen laten voorbij gaan. Dit vijftal blijf ik echter min of meer volgen, ik kan het niet laten. "Een nieuwe Alter Bridge komt eraan en dat is iets waar wij ... ooit héél enthousiast over waren, zo ongeveer tot de release van Fortress (2013). Niet dat de mannen rond Kennedy en Tremonti daarna slechte albums afleverden, verre van, maar echt fris was het allemaal niet meer, laat staan verrassend. Zo ook deze nieuwe single: riffs, ritmesectie, vocals, grootse melodieën, ... het zit allemaal wel snor. De titeltrack van het nieuwe album geeft echter aan dat het opnieuw een beetje 'been there, done that' zal zijn. Voer voor de nog steeds groeiende schare fans. Maar ik kan me vergissen natuurlijk, dus op naar een volgende single. Wedden dat het een powerballad van epische proporties wordt?" Nu ben ik benieuwd in hoeverre de band voor de komende singles ook datzelfde traject volgt. Die power ballad kwam er in 2022 als derde single. Silent Divide verschijnt op 9 januari 2026 via Napalm Records. LIVE maandag 23 februari 2026, Ancienne Belgique (Brussel, BE) Lees On the heels of the excitement from the recent announcements of their upcoming eighth studio album and their Blackbird festival in Wales next summer, acclaimed rockers ALTER BRIDGE  are releasing the first piece of music in over two years, “Silent Divide.” The track from the quartet, comprised of Myles Kennedy on vocals/guitars, Mark Tremonti on guitars/vocals, Brian Marshall on bass and Scott Phillips on drums, shows the band is back and ready to pick up where they left off in 2023. The brooding track begins with the signature guitar tones of Kennedy and Tremonti before the rhythm section of Marshall and Phillips join in. The chorus is powered by Kennedy’s haunting descent as he sings: “Keep your head down, ride out the silent divide.”  A music video for “Silent Divide"  is also available today that the band has been teasing for days. A comedic opening skit was released of Tremonti, Marshall, and Phillips calling Kennedy’s mom to get the band back together as Myles hangs in his mom’s basement. That scene gives way to a performance of the four guys playing together in a small room – a throwback to the way it all started for them. Afgelopen donderdag vertrokken we richting Amsterdam voor een show van niemand minder dan Clipping. De Amerikaanse band mixed crossover cyberpunk hiphop met hier en daar een scheutje horrorcore en stond in Paradiso met het nieuwe album Dead Channel Sky op zak. Een kopstoot van jewelste, inderdaad, maar er wordt ook een héél andere betekenis aan gegeven zoals uit de video blijkt. Neen, ik verklap het niet: de eerste seconden geven het al weg, het resultaat zie je op het einde. BAM! HEADBUTT ligt in de lijn van de vorige single en laat vooral black metal horen, hondsbrutaal van begin tot einde, vanzelfsprekend met de nodige gekke Igorrr kruiden gespijst. Vingervlug pianowerk, een heus koor en Marthe Alexandre met de 'lyric voice' als weerwerk voor JB Le Bail. Niet mijn favoriete nummer, maar nu het album is verschenen, moest ik het wel brengen. Fabrizio Cassol @ Marni Last night at Théâtre Marni, the Jazz Festival continued with a remarkable carte blanche by Fabrizio Cassol, who gathered an eclectic trio of collaborators: Ezgi Elkermis, evoking landscapes from the Turkish forest to the Sinai desert; Rodriguez Vangama, whose encounter with Cassol in Kinshasa sparked projects like Coup Fatal and Requiem pour L.; and Adèle Viret, a musical partner since the Medinea sessions, with whom he has built ongoing, evolving projects. The concert began simply, with applause offered to each musician and to Marni itself, before plunging straight into a seamless, uninterrupted performance of over an hour. What followed was a beatiful piece, where each voice was emerging and dissolving in turn. Every musician was given the space to shine, with solos unfolding naturally within the flow, not as interruptions but as illuminations, showcasing a fluid dialogue between instruments. Cassol, always a master of weaving together traditions, created a space where Turkish timbres, Congolese energy, Mediterranean resonance, and European improvisation could co-exist without boundaries. Early Pedestrian - Sick (Lyric video) "Uit een goei garage komt veel lawijt", placht mijn bompa zaliger wel eens te zeggen. Bon, "Zet die tsjingel tsjangel godverdomme wat stiller of ge gaat hier wat meemaken" was nog een van zijn uitspraken, dus hou ik mijn lesje familiegeschiedenis maar bekeken voor vandaag. Over naar Early Pedestrian , een trio uit Londerzeel dat zijn liefde voor luide garage deelt. In december verschijnt hun nieuwe album ' Love/Hate ', en als voorsmaakje krijgen we nu al eerste single ' Sick ' te horen, een nummer dat swingt als een tiet. Punky garage met hoge meezingfactor die al dan niet gecontroleerde lichaamsbeweging in gang zet. Onder de deskundige leiding van Arno van SONS (productie) en Mathijs van Black Leather Jacket (opname en mix) geeft Early Pedestrian een visitekaartje af dat kan tellen. (Album) More info Early Pedestrian  is een drie­koppige band uit Londerzeel die zich met hart, ziel en een flinke dosis lawaai smijt op een rauwe mix van punk en onversneden rock-‘n-roll. De band bestaat uit Niels De Ridder  (vocals/gitaar), Ward De Ridder  (bas) en Vincent Janssens  (drums) — drie vrienden, twee broers, en één gemeenschappelijke visie: muziek moet voelen, schuren en iets zeggen. De bandgeschiedenis is er één van doorgaan, ook wanneer het tegenzit. In de beginjaren werd Early Pedestrian getroffen door het plotse overlijden van drummer en mede oprichter Julian,  hij was initiatiefnemer en de bedenker van de naam. Hij zal dan ook altijd de original Early Pedestrian blijven. Later vielen ook de plannen rond hun debuutplaat Still Doing Fine  (2020) in het water door de corona pandemie, waardoor de plaat minder weerklank kreeg dan gehoopt. Maar de energie en goesting om verder te gaan bleven intact. Deze leidden al tot deelnames aan Sound track en Humo’s rock rally. In december 2025 verschijnt Love/Hate , hun meest gerichte en compromisloze werk tot nu toe. De songs snijden scherpe thema’s aan als ongelijkheid, racisme, religieuze indoctrinatie, oorlog, anti-establishment en zelfvervreemding. Thema’s als mentale worstelingen, die op de vorige plaat al de kop opstaken, klinken hier harder en concreter dan ooit. Love/Hate  is evenveel een aanklacht als een zoektocht naar betekenis, naar identiteit, naar iets of iemand om in te geloven. Zoals altijd koos de band voor een radicale DIY-aanpak: de volledige plaat werd opgenomen in hun repetitiekot, op hun tempo, zonder franjes. De productie was in handen van Arno De Ruyte  (SONS) en Mathijs Van Der Wallen  (Black Leather Jacket) nam de opnames en de mix voor zijn rekening. Die keuze voor eenvoud en eerlijkheid zit diep in het DNA van Early Pedestrian. De band gelooft dat goeie muziek niet steriel moet klinken — ze moet bewegen, bijten, ontwrichten. Live staat Early Pedestrian garant voor een bak energie en een set zonder compromissen. Geen ingestudeerde trucjes, maar gewoon drie gasten die geven wat ze hebben — elke keer opnieuw. Met Love/Hate  toont Early Pedestrian zich als een band die durft te zeggen waar het op staat, maar ook kwetsbaarheid durft te tonen. Mila Mar @ Festival Mediaval (Selb, DE) Op 12 september begon in de bergen van Beieren, Duitsland de 16de editie van Festival Mediaval. Een folk, fantasy muziek festival dat elk jaar een fantastische line up heeft. Met dit jaar het thema Gothic, wilden we daar natuurlijk graag verslag van doen. Alhoewel op de affiche namen als Wind Rose, VNV Nation en Qntal stonden, was het voor ons Nederlanders en Belgen een line-up met voor een heel groot deel onbekende namen. Alleen maar leuker, want op deze manier ontdekt je nog eens nieuwe muziek. ASP De headliner op het hoofdpodium bracht Duitse gothic metal. Pur Pur Opende het festival met een leuke samenwerking tussen vele artiesten The BlackbeerS Met de baas van het festival in de gelederen kon deze pirate band een feestje bouwen. Mila Mar Circus of Fools De verrassing van de vrijdag op de "Hafenbühne"! Goethes Erben Fantastische theatrale show in geheel eigen stijl.
