Dit trio uit Brooklyn, NY gooit met Container een opmerkelijk debuut album op de markt, waarbij hun gevarieerde sound mij in gedachten meermaals naar mijn meest favoriete bands loodste. Die mannen kennen verdomd hun klassiekers!
Het openingsnummer Ramp deed mij spontaan denken aan The Daily Heavyvan The Oh Sees en ik kreeg onmiddellijk honger naar meer.
Deze plotse appetijt werd met grote voldoening gestild door het titelnummer Container, wat een kleurrijke potpourri is van LCD Soundsystem meets Parquet Courts meets The Godfathers (remember Birth, School, Work, Death). Het korteMachine Room is Digitalism, toch? Bij Fear My Society loert Depeche Mode dan weer om de hoek. Met The Motor zitten we plots bij Public Service Broadcasting en Spitfire. Door het baslijntje in Ape Trap komen we snel bij Joy Division, maar toch weer niet. En daartussen spekken ze met Aluminium en Voltage nog wat industriële noize à la Nine Inch Nails voor de liefhebbers.

Anthony “Shake” Shakir’s “Frictionalism (1994-2009)" and John Beltran’s “Ten Days of Blue” drew The Wants into the lush soundscapes and entrancing mood of electronic music.
