Stuck Out kwam eerder deze maand op mijn radar met hun liedje Inverse. Vandaag brengen de Amerikanen hun tweede EP, Lie Through Your Teeth, uit. Het vierdelige mini-album draait rond de gevolgen die gepaard gaan met het liegen tegen anderen en onszelf, maar ook rond de gevoelens die komen kijken wanneer iemand tegen jou liegt. In welke omstandigheden wordt de waarheid achtergehouden en welke invloed heeft dit op iedereen?

De groep weet vier leuke poppunk nummers te brengen, die zeker voor de nodige power zullen zorgen tijdens optredens. Inverse is ruig, ruw en geeft sterke oldschool poppunk vibes af die ik zeker kan waarderen. False Promise start wat rustiger, maar dankzij een opbouwende drum, krijgt ook dit liedje wat power. Het valt me op dat Josh echt een goede poppunk stem heeft, en ik ben alvast benieuwd om dit verder te zien evolueren. Bij Hollow voelt het alsof je meteen in het liedje wordt gesmeten. Het is opnieuw een leuk liedje dat nét niet aankomt zoals de band voor ogen had, vermoed ik. De kracht ontbreekt hier net een tikkeltje. Afsluiter Mindless komt veel te snel maar is wel een speciale. Het is namelijk een samenwerking met Mikaila Delgado die sommigen misschien wel kennen van Yours Truly. Dit is arguably het sterkste liedje op de EP, maar zeker en vast de song met de meeste energie.

Now the band & Greyscale Records look to the future as they add Sharptone Records to the team to help them push from one of the most exciting bands in Australia, to one of the biggest in the world.
