Albums | Crowne - Wonderland

Met Wonderland laat het Zweedse Crowne horen dat de speeltijd voorbij is en de band een erg volwassen indruk geeft. Vanaf de eerste riff van de titeltrack spat de kracht eraf en bevestigen ze hun status als supergroep. Met zanger Alexander Strandell (Art Nation, Lionville), gitarist Love Magnusson (Dynazty), toetsenist en songwriter Jona Tee (H.E.A.T.), bassist John Leven (Europe) en drummer Christian Lundqvist (ex-The Poodles) heb je hier een all-star line-up die ervaring, talent en passie naadloos bundelt.

De balans tussen klassiek en modern is indrukwekkend. Wonderland en This Heart zijn krachtige, melodieuze anthems die meteen blijven hangen. Waiting For You en The Time Of Your Life ademen pure Scandinavische melodie, terwijl Warlords Of The North (mee geschreven door Saxon’s Biff Byford) het album een zwaarder randje meegeeft.  Subtielere momenten vinden we in Goodbye en Love Thy Enemy, die tonen dat de band ook emotioneel diep weet te raken. Het geheel klinkt groots, meeslepend en tegelijk warm en toegankelijk.

Wat Wonderland vooral zo sterk maakt, is de chemie en het hoorbare plezier van de muzikanten. Elk nummer is gedetailleerd uitgewerkt zonder steriel te worden, en de productie laat alle instrumenten schitteren zonder het geheel te overschaduwen. Crowne bewijst met dit derde album dat ze niet alleen een verzameling topmuzikanten zijn, maar een hechte band die de lat voor melodische hardrock en metal opnieuw hoger legt.
