De videoclip voor Bad For Your Health is wel een beetje typerend voor de DIY mentaliteit die The Sheepdogs al sinds het begin van hun carrière hanteren. Stoppen, ergens onderweg, aan een triestig gebouw, in de sneeuw, uit de van stappen en beginnen spelen. Dan moet je het wel hebben van de kwaliteit van je song en die is hier, zoals we gewoon zijn van Ewan Currie en zijn kompanen, weer subliem.
Over die carrière gesproken, die overschrijdt intussen al de kaap van 20 jaar en in die tijd produceerde de band maar liefst 8 stubioalbums, 1 livealbum en 5 EP's. De jongste worp, het album Keep Out of the Storm stuurde de band – ongewild wel – in een nieuw tijdperk en geluid. Drummer Sam Corbett verliet vorig jaar immers de band om zich meer op zijn gezin te focussen, waardoor het album met verschillende andere drummers werd opgenomen. Net dat zorgde voor een wisselende dynamiek.

De woorden van frontman Ewan Currie:
"When I was a young man a rock n roll record was like a suit of armour. I would wear it for protection. It made me feel tough, safe and strong. I knew that someday I wanted to make music that did the same for others.
How unique is this medium we know as rock n roll? It makes you feel cool, excited, protected, romantic, seen and heard…all in the span of a few minutes. Plus you can play it whenever and wherever you want. You can sing along to it. You can even play your own version of it using your own instruments. What other art form affords such flexibility and accessibility?
I will never forget the excitement that accompanies a new record from a beloved band. That first listen and the short lived unfamiliarity. While some tracks are an immediate joy, others need some breaking in before they take their rightful place amongst old favourites. It’s a beautiful ritual, getting acquainted with a new album, testing out the songs on your car stereo, in your headphones, on your home hifi.
We’re very lucky to be doing this thing called rock n roll, especially in the year 2026. It’s a tremendous pleasure to be able to write these little songs, sit in a room with my buds and record them. To then figure out what the art looks like, what order the tracks go in, and finally send them out into the world for people to hear.
