Ik geef toe dat ik eerst aan de stem van Lukas Nelson moest wennen. Beetje aan de scherpe kant - ik hou van een warmere klank - maar geleidelijk aan werden mijn oren het wel gewoon. Dat heeft natuurlijk te maken met het nummer op zich. Ik voel de sfeer en storytelling en ook die lap steel gitaar op de achtergrond gaat er vlotjes in. Nelson's geluid leunt bij alternative country aan, maar heeft zeker ook een rootsy insteek.
American Romance (album) is zijn eerste album als solo artiest. Nelson is echter al sinds 2007 actief met zijn band Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real waarmee hij acht studio albums uitbracht. Zijn grootste wapenfeit kwam toen Bradley Cooper hem vroeg om mee nummers te schrijven voor de remake van A Star Is Born (met o.a. Lady Gaga). Het leverde hem een BAFTA Ć©n Grammy Award op.
American Romance is op 20 juni 2025 verschenen via Ace Records / Sony Music Entertainment.

Nelson has also sold-out countless headline shows, been featured at renownedĀ festivals such as Stagecoach, Ohana Festival, Bourbon & Beyond and Farm Aid and hasĀ made multiple appearances on late night showsĀ includingĀ Jimmy Kimmel Live!Ā andĀ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Additionally, Nelson co-produced and co-wrote much of the music for the acclaimed 2018 filmĀ A Star is Born, in which he also appeared. The soundtrack won a Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media and a BAFTA Award for Best Original Music.
