Sounds | Impureza - Pestilencia

Franco-Spanish conquistadors Impureza crack open the gates of their Reconquista-themed opus Alcázares with the brand-new lead single “Pestilencia,”. The track is the first glimpse of the band’s third full-length, a concept album charting Spain’s medieval struggle between Christian kingdoms and Al-Andalus through an esoteric, myth-laden lens.

Forging a style dubbed as Hispanic Metal—a brutal alloy of death-metal ferocity, flamenco guitar intricacy and Spanish-language vocals—Impureza brandish their Iberian heritage as both shield and sword. Expect tremolo riffs to lock step with bulería-tinged acoustic passages, fretless bass runs to snake beneath hammer-blow blast-beats, and orchestral flourishes to flare like torchlight on castle stone.

The song chronicles the Black Death’s march across Hispania: wind‑borne miasma, corpse‑choked plazas and the populace’s belief that divine wrath fuels the contagion. The lavishly crafted music video—captured on historic Spanish sites—premieres in tandem, turning the song’s apocalyptic lyrics into a torchlit, rat‑infested tableaux.
