Hoe diep kan een riff snijden?
Hoe kan een drummer in godsnaam door op wat ezelsvellen te slaan je hart sneller en sneller doen kloppen?
Hoe slaagt een kwintet gemaskerde Portugezen er telkens opnieuw in om mij zo diep te raken terwijl ze godbetert (post-)black metal spelen?
GaereaĀ beheerst de kunst om extreme emoties in extreme muziek om te zetten, en (mij toch) met chirurgische precisie daar te raken waar het telt.
Op NomadĀ verkent de band een meer open geluid, zonder ook maar een moment aan intensiteit in te boeten. Haal er de blastbeats en tremoloās uit, en je krijgt de song die Machine HeadĀ ontbrak om Ć©Ć©n van hun laatste albums een klassieker te maken.
Maar geef mij toch maar Gaerea.

After exploring water, fire and darkness GAEREA are chasing the light in a freezing world with āNomadā.
āThe Nomad is the individual who goes through life at a constant moving pace just to avoid facing oneselfāphysically drifting, but emotionally running from guilt, self-doubt, and a fear of becoming something to despise. At its core, itās a confession of alienation: a nomad not by choice, but by self-punishment and inner collapseā, says the band about āNomadā, their new song and video. Like the previous videos from their upcoming album, āLossā, āNomadā was directed by Tre Film.
āLossā is the sound of GAEREA continuing to define and redefine itself, incorporating elements of the bandās post-black metal past with the sharpened sonics and haunting melodies. It finds GAEREA emerging from creative chrysalis and bursting into something as engaging as it is unexpected: Thereās singing. There are choruses as catchy and passionate as the best rock and metal songs. Yet, through the emotionally charged din, itās unmistakably GAEREA.
