Nu we zo de laatste weken van 2022 in gaan en we allemaal denken aan onze favoriete albums van dit jaar, wil ik toch even terugblikken op mijn favoriete cover. Een cover maken van de klassieker A Forest van The Cure, is durven want hoe subliem is dit nummer wel niet! Maar tijdens een sessie voor Studio Brussel rond de release van hun nieuwe album Unison Life waagde Brutus er zich wel aan en het resultaat mag er zeker en vast zijn. A Forest met de Brutus touch klinkt meer dan geslaagd en zetten we met veel plezier meerdere keren op repeat. Hoop ik stiekem dat ze deze cover op hun setlist gaan plaatsen voor hun aankomende show in de Ancienne Belgique op 3 februari? Absoluut ! En ja hoor, Unison Life is zonder twijfel mijn favoriete plaat van 2022!

Lees 'What do you do to celebrate album release day?
We have to rehearse for a live session on Monday that we said “yes” to.
We have to do a cover song and two of our own songs that we have to rework so it’s not the same as the album version. It’s for national radio here in Belgium.
So it means it has to be a bit quieter.
What is the cover song you’re doing?
We’re doing The Cure’s “A Forest”. We’re going to try it or they will shoot us.
All the hate is coming over us when we do that stuff.
But if you represent it like, “We like this song so much,” you can do whatever you want. The thing is, Belgium is very small so sometimes you can do stuff that nobody knows about because it’s just in Belgium. But, they will put it on YouTube so … ARGH … it has to be good
