Let's be mates with Billy Nomates!
Haar gelijknamige debuutalbum Billy Nomates bracht ze net op 7 augustus 2020 uit en hier is al haar nieuwste spruit, Heels, als voorloper op de komende EP Emergency Telephone , die wordt gereleased op 5 maart 2021. Anger is an energy, zoals John Lydon ooit zong!
"Sprechgesang" is al langer een hype aan de andere kant van het Kanaal met bands als Sleaford Mods, Squid, Sinead O'Brien, ... en ik ben fan van het genre. Na haar verschijning in de videoclip van Mork n Mindy van Sleaford Mods, wist ik het zeker: dit is geen katje om zonder handschoenen aan te pakken. Mannen der aarde, u weze gewaarschuwd:

Bristol-based Tor Marie, aka Billy Nomates makes decisive, honest and impetuous post-punk. She caught the eye of Geoff Barrow (Porthishead, Beak>), who saw potential in her, and offered her a record deal on Invada Records.
This summer she released her first self-titled album, 'Billy Nomates', on which she speaks about themes such as feminism, Brexit, racism, exploitation and inequality. She uses her music as an outlet to express raw emotions and tackle political and societal issues.
