ONLY HUMAN presenteert debuutalbum Planned Obsolescence

De Deense progmetalband ONLY HUMAN heeft op vrijdag 27 maart 2026 haar debuutalbum Planned Obsolescence uitgebracht, een existentialistische reis door een wereld op de rand van technologische ondergang. Het album is beschikbaar via Season of Mist.



Op Planned Obsolescence combineert de band invloeden van recente progsubgenres (post-Tool, post-Periphery/TesseracT) met elektronische elementen, waardoor een unieke sound ontstaat die zowel technisch als emotioneel resoneert.


Zanger Patrick Grønbæch Christensen vertelt over het nieuwe album:

"The album is supposed to wake people up to all the ways technocracy is encroaching on society. Tech companies often design their products to have an expiration date, so that we’re forced to replace them with the newest model. Through our social media and the adoption of influencer culture, we now live in a reality where humans are products to be consumed and disposed of."

Planned Obsolescence onderzoekt de spanningen tussen menselijkheid en technologie. Tracks zoals Automata en Techno Fascist combineren polyrhythms en zware riffs met elektronische invloeden om de invloed van technologie op onze samenleving voelbaar te maken.

Christensen benadrukt:"When the world is going badly, the reason is because people gave up. Things aren’t hopeless. We can absolutely fight back. Hopefully, this album gets people to think about valuing humanity over profit."


De band werd in 2022 opgericht en bestaat uit:

  • Patrick Grønbæch Christensen – zang

  • Martin Hastrup – gitaar

  • JaCK Kijne – gitaar

  • Andreas Pröll – drums

  • Guillaume Blanjean – bas


Het album werd volledig geproduceerd door Patrick Grønbæch Christensen in de Only Human Studio, met mastering voor vinyl door Brett Caldas-Lima.
