Nieuws | Festival Mediaval 2025: Gothic Special

Deep in the hills of south Germany, right between Leipzig and Neurenberg, there is a festival happening every year.

This festival, named Festival Mediaval, doesn't have a big metal name, nor does it have a big poppy name, no this festival focusses on the alternative. With theme years, like folk music, folk metal theme, new steps and all that, Festival Mediaval is different.

You can find cosplayers, writers, food, re-enactment, drinks, pirates, pagans and dwarves. This year quite litterally! As the line-up consists out of bands like Windrose, ASP, The longest Johns, The blackbeers and Harmony Glenn. It is a mishmash of all that is fun, good and loud in the folk-related music.

Festival Mediaval has something for everybody, from hard and loud metal, to lovely sing and song writers, to artist, entertainment and all that, that is good in life. It is an amazing opportunity to discover the folk and gothic music that is loved by our eastern neighbors.

Spiked your interest? Here is a pro-tip, if you don't want to drive so many hours, fly to the airport in Prague and rent a car there, it is only 2 hours drive from the airport and will take you through some beautiful scenery.
