Mark from Arð reached out with thrilling news: Jo Quail will join them with her magnificent cello work on Darken The Moon XVII w/ Forgotten Tomb, High Parasite, Marche Funèbre, Arð and more
Here are his words:
"Followers: Having worked with Jo several times with my other band Winterfylleth and developed a great mutual friendship and respect, there was no other choice when it came to who I wanted to play cello on the first Arð album ’Take Up My Bones’ in 2022. Even though I knew that logistics and her schedule would mean we would almost certainly never be able to recreate our combined forces in a live setting, it was fantastic to hear her unique and fantastic playing on my record.
But secretly I always hoped I would one day find a way to have her join us on stage for a very special occasion, so I am delighted to be able to have Jo come and play with us at Darken The Moon. This may never happen again. Will you join us?"
Some words taken from her biography:
"Jo Quail is a renowned composer and virtuoso cellist from London. Widely known for her innovative use of looping techniques Jo’s live performances delight and inspire audiences across the world. Whether performed solo, with bands, choirs or orchestras her unique compositions combine organic fluidity with intricate sonic architecture. Majestic and sensual, Jo’s music is a masterful blend of contrasting elements, seamlessly weaving together crushing heaviness and filigree intimacy, inviting listeners to embark on a transformative sonic journey that is both personal and universal.
With a background in contemporary, classical and avant-garde Jo’s music appeals to a truly broad audience, evidenced in her ground breaking concerts at esteemed venues and festivals worldwide, including Hellfest (FR), the Melbourne Recital Centre (AUS) and the Royal Festival Hall (UK). As an invited artist Jo has collaborated with acts as diverse as Caspian, Damo Suzuki, Enslaved, Emma Ruth Rundle, FM Einheit, God Is An Astronaut, MONO, My Dying Bride, Myrkur, and Poppy Ackroyd, as well as touring with many of these artists and others including Amenra, Boris, Heilung and Wardruna."
So yes, we are honoured to have such a class act on our stage. Make sure you won't miss this!
