Last Wednesday, Botanique was the place to be as The Wombats wrapped up the EU-UK leg of their tour with a bang. Opening the night with infectious energy, Red Rum Club set the tone with their brass-filled bangers, warming up the crowd with a vibe that felt both intimate and electric.
The Wombats, riding high on the release of their latest album, delivered a tightly packed, feel-good set bursting with energy. Fans were treated to a special moment when the audience-voted song 1996 made it onto the setlist, bringing a wave of nostalgia and joy. In one of the nightās standout surprises, Kill the Director turned into an acapella sing-along, with the crowd proudly taking the lead.
Of course, whatās a final show without a little chaos? A mid-song guitar failure didnāt break the momentum ā it only added to the nightās charm. And yes, actual dancing wombats made an appearance on stage, adding a surreal and playful twist to the show.
The encore was nothing short of perfect: Canāt Say No, Turn, and an emotional, hands-in-the-air performance of Greek Tragedy to close things out.
A special shoutout to the fans ā incredibly kind and respectful, even helping each other (and me!) snap a shot of the setlist.
