The Golden Glows @ Ancienne Belgique (Brussel, BE)
Yesterday I had a whole new experience in concert photography with The Golden Glows. This trio from Antwerp welcomed me in their sound check and to hang out with them in the backstage, where I was trying to capture their routines before a show, and we even shared a meal together at the delicious Nona Pizza. Sharing these experiences with a band you’re about to take pictures of makes you appreciate them even more.
After 18 years being together as a band, and going from more American roots music to more rock base compositions, Sunrise is just a perfect package of songs in a harmonious blend of nostalgia and innovation, that go really well with their set, just their voices and Bram’s guitar. Already at the sound check they draw a smile on my face with their soft voices and the simplicity of the set, and their enchanting melodies and thoughtful lyrics. Their voices fit so well together that they leave you in awe at the end of every song, and it drew a bigger smile on my face every time I was hearing a soft but big wow from the audience, who looked like they’ve been walking on clouds for the whole evening.
The Golden Glows showcasted yesterday their mastery of the folk genre proving that they are a force to be reckoned with in the Belgian music scene.
