After being to Botanique several times for different types of concerts, and knowing that B R I Q U E V I L L E and Pothamus were hard to shoot, I decided to take on the challenge and discover these two metal bands from Belgium.
B R I Q U E V I L L E, originary from Temse, recently released their fourth album IIII, and there was great expectation among the crowd to watch them perform it live. The band, keeping their known intriguing atmosphere by wearing their golden masks at all time, allows you to focus on the show and their sound. Watching them live is a pure audiovisual experience and profoundly atmospheric, dragging each and every one of us into a hypnotic state and into the darkness, and at times shake up by all the stroboscopic lights.
The other band orignary from Mechelen, Pothamus, was the perfect guest act for what was coming next. What makes Pothamus stand out from other bands in the post-metal field is their combination of guitar leads and post-doom riffs, with some sort of tribal drumming at times mixed life with their hypnotic dances and the very much curated atmosphere.
