In Flames, pioniers van de Swedish Death Metal en vaandeldragers van de zogeheten Gothenburg scene veroverden zo'n 22 jaar geleden mijn hart met hun klassieker Clayman. Ik ben sindsdien een onvoorwaardelijke fan en heb al menig show van hen mogen bijwonen. Live blijven ze een B.O.M. Hun sound evolueerde naar meer alternative metal/melodic death metal met albums die niet constant dezelfde hoogstaande kwaliteit konden leveren. Aan geniale tracks geen gebrek, daar niet van, check maar eens I Am Above uit het vorige album, I, The Mask (2019) of het bovenstaande State of Slow Decay, de voorloper uit het aankomende album Foregone (release gepland op 10 februari 2023).
De schreeuwende truckersklak Tomas Lindberg en zijn band At The Gates zijn echt één van mijn favoriete bands. Ik had hen midden jaren negentig nog maar net ontdekt met hun Klassieke album Slaughter of the Soul (1995) of ze hielden er mee op. Gelukkig voor mij en de wereld maakte de band in 2014 een definitieve doorstart en leverde sindsdien drie bijzonder kwaliteitsvolle albums. Het meest recente The Nightmare of Being is zo'n prachtig juweeltje en wordt tijdens deze tour nog uitgebreid gepromoot.
Zet de metalcoreband Imminince en de melodic death metal van Orbit Culture mee op de affiche en we krijgen een 100% Zweedse avond geserveerd. De Zweedse balletjes zult echter van bij de Ikea moeten meebrengen vrees ik.

A 100% Swedish metal night not to be missed!
Swedish metal powerhouse In Flames have been going strong for over 20 years. The quintet announces their return with 'State of the Slow Decay', a powerful new single, a fourteenth album due this year and new concert dates.
