Nick Blacka - GoGo Penguin @ Ancienne Belgique (Brussel, BE)
AB was once again sold out last Thursday to host the break-beat trio GoGo Penguin, from Manchester, featuring pianist Chris Illingworth, bassist Nick Blacka and drummer Jon Scott, one of the bands at the forefront of the modern jazz movement.
During the live performance, they were playing some older songs together with pieces from their newest album "Everything Is Going to Be OK", born out of a hard period for the band. The mix of more traditional with more electronic and synthetic music, creating numerous uptempo pieces kept the audience dancing in an hypnothic show perfectly wrapped with a light show that added the visual part to the whole audiovisual experience.
Vera Trails opened the night in a short 30 minutes performance, playing some songs from their album together with some new material. A duet not to miss next year when they come back to Belgium to perform in a church in Liège.
