Er scheelt iets fundamenteels binnen onze maatschappij. Iets waardoor we als mens blijkbaar niet kunnen of willen leren uit fouten die we in het verleden hebben gemaakt. Iets dat onze gave om menselijk te zijn telkens opnieuw doet uitdraaien in onmenselijk gedrag. Iets dat onze natuurlijke drang naar vooruitgang doet stilvallen onder invloed van onze al even natuurlijk schrik voor verandering.
We roepen steeds "Dit kan zo niet langer!" en vervallen de volgende ochtend in dezelfde routines. We delen massaal taferelen van schrijnend onrecht en uiten onze steun via sociale media, maar blijven steevast onze steun verlenen aan machtshebbers die dergelijk onrecht in stand houden.
Op een bepaald moment lijkt het wel alsof we ongevoelig worden voor de pijn waarmee zovelen dagelijks geconfronteerd worden. Onze reacties staan op automatische piloot, want al bij al hebben wij het zéér goed.
Tranen lijken echter opgedroogd. Huilen lijkt niet meer mogelijk.
Wat doen we eraan?
